Desh Raag in D

Hi All,

It's with great pleasure and excitement that I present my latest composition to you all! The song is based on Raag "Desh" but it doesn't necessarily conform to all the hard-set rules of the raag; enough liberties were taken with the usage of adjoining notes; there is also a mild touch of one of my favorites, Raag "Sarang", in there. :)

This song is special because a number of my friends (including three of my college band mates) played the role of contributing artists - Arun (he always has these invaluable suggestions on how to build a track), Mahesh (a fantastic keyboard player), Vikram (I haven't come across anyone more passionate about the bass), Shriram (an awesome player of string instruments). Thank you all for your amazing ideas and contributions!

The song has been recorded in three different languages - Telugu, Hindi & Tamil (in the order of conception). Much thanks to all the lyricists (Chaitu, Sonal & Arun) for coming up with some scintillatingly poetic and, at the same time, hummable lines for the songs. Also, a BIG thanks to all the singers (Mrudul, Revati, Sonal & Chaitu, again!) who not only came up with lilting renditions in their own unique styles, but also great improvisations that I couldn't have come up with by myself.

Special thanks to Revati Nalole, my Hindustani teacher (she has sung the Hindi version). This song wouldn't have happened without her music lessons.

Here are the tracks along with credits (in detail).
